Grove Station Trivia Night

The Problem.

Grove Station, an event venue and soda shop, wanted to create a community-centered event that would bring families together while boosting business for both the soda shop and the surrounding food trucks. The area had foot traffic but lacked a consistent draw that encouraged people to linger, connect, and return week after week. The challenge was to design an experience that felt fun, welcoming, and replayable, turning casual visitors into a loyal community.

The Process.

Inspired by my time living in England and experience pub quiz nights, I began with research, attending trivia nights across neighboring cities to study what worked, what didn’t, and what would translate best for Grove Station. From there, I built a custom game format, crafted new themed questions every week, and developed a promotional strategy to attract recurring groups and first-time players alike. Beyond the logistics, I focused on creating a warm, energetic environment where guests felt seen, welcomed, and excited to return. Over time it grew into a weekly ritual that connected families, students, and community members.

The Solution.

The final experience blends high-energy hosting, original game design, weekly themed content, and intentional community-building. Trivia Night became a reliable anchor event for Grove Station, offering an easy, joyful gathering space that encourages people to eat local, support vendors, and stay for the atmosphere. By combining interactive gameplay with strong branding and consistent engagement, the event created a memorable and repeatable experience that people wanted to be part of.

The Impact.

Within six months, attendance doubled, and a dedicated group of regulars emerged, we even have a family that plans their week around trivia night! The event has run continuously for over a year and a half, becoming a hallmark of Grove Station’s community programming and a dependable revenue driver for the food trucks and soda shop. The consistent turnout and warm community feedback show how intentional experience design can transform a simple idea into a beloved local tradition.

My Role.

As the Trivia Night Lead, Emcee, and Content Creator, I spearheaded the entire experience from concept to execution. I drew inspiration from my time living in England, where pub quizzes were a staple of community life, and reimagined that atmosphere for a family-friendly local audience. I host each week, create original content weekly, built out the game format, and shaped the overall culture and tone of the experience.

Skills and Tools Used.

This project strengthened my skills in creative ideation, content creation, and graphic design. I gained experience in hosting and emceeing live events, crafting weekly digital and physical promotional materials, and designing repeatable experiences that balance structure with spontaneity. I also developed skills in audience engagement, community-building, and experiential storytelling — all essential tools in customer experience design.
